Going Upstream to Resource Your Life
“I asked how did we get here? What can we do to change?
The water replied, “There is always an upstream, a current, and a downstream
The upstream affected you
Your heroes, your choices, your lessons,
Your thoughts and your dreams.
They are your upstream
Where you are right now is this moment
The moment that determines the change
To create the rhythm and pulse of how the current runs and what proceeds, (journal poem by Kimberly Rex)
Resonance Repatterning® draws on information that goes upstream to resource your life today. When a session brings up an earlier experience at a particular time, level, and place in your body-mind-spirit system it taps into the impact of life-depleting patterns as well as positive resources that originated upstream. We all have basic needs that contribute to physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellness and well-being related to physical safety and security, connection to others, and the need for purpose.
. When an unmet need is present in a session, it indicates what part of the puzzle has been missing. For example, the need for “giving and receiving loving touch,” can point to an absent, stressed out, or abusive pattern in the family. In some cases, this pattern originates with the client’s parents.
At other times, the pattern of neglect, stress, or abuse can be generational and begin upstream with your ancestors perhaps due to separation, war, illness, or addiction, to name a few.
The importance of identifying the energetic material upstream is to access the disruption of energy that blocks you from the potential to meet the need for “giving and receiving loving touch” by clearing the pathway of the obstruction. By doing so you are connected to the gifts, lessons, and positive attributes of your Family System as well.
The beauty of this possibility is that you can then take the life-enhancing material from your system even if you don’t know the ancestor. In fact, the material might be single or double-digit in a number of generations to access a time, place, and person (people) in your family system who can give you the life energy connection to that need for giving and receiving loving touch.
In clearing the pathway, the information becomes available to all of the people in your Family System to work with the lessons from the past to contribute to the present with encouragement from your vital energy line while updating patterns in current situations and relationships today.
As an example in my own life, in working with the upstream of a repetitive pattern of abandonment of members on both sides of my family, I was able to access compassion from their stories. In the process, my awareness shifted from feeling aligned with this pattern to resonating with the gifts of these family members. They were artists, poets, wonderful cooks, generous spirits, and immensely creative. When I now look at my life through this new lens, I activate these strengths as part of my own legacy, and this gives me hope, courage, and an expanded vision of what life can be today. I may not be able to bake at the level that my grandmother did, but I think of her every time I am baking and call on her for encouragement.
It is like adding a missing page that has been left or ripped out of a book you are reading. This gives you insight into the disruption of energy you have experienced in your attempts to create something new without the guidance or permission to expand your awareness to include both the wisdom from the past related to the life-depleting pattern, and, the access to the flow of energy related to resourcing life-enhancing patterns. This happens with a change in vision about your life and can begin to create small steps to reorganize your beliefs about what is possible.
Life-depleting feelings accompany the lack of resolution in meeting unmet needs. Fear, anxiety, hurt, confusion, anger, sadness, etc. point to material that needs compassionate attention. This attention connects you to the underlying need that has not been activated in your current life.
Coupled with the unmet need and feeling, the mental aspect of a life-depleting pattern determines the thoughts that fuel the continued search for attempting to get unmet needs met from the perspective of a stress or trauma-reactive living state. This can color your discernment in your ability to move toward or away from people, actions, and situations that are safe, and life-enhancing. or depleting and dangerous.
Your ability to begin to align with your own inner values starts with evaluating these patterns, and recognizing where you sense that your actions might be reinforcing generations of conflict and limitation. Where you feel you need a change in perspective, you can begin to sort out the depths of harm to your inner values that have kept you from putting your positive life-enhancing values into action in your own life today.
It starts with insight to be able to step into a new experience of life. This ability to reach into the wounds of the past allows you to find the light that comes from your core essence. And, from this place, you can build a new life experience created with activating coherence with your values connected to greater vitality, joy, loving interactions, compassion, and well-being.

Getting in Sync with Water Chakra in the Fall Season
Resonance Repatterning works with a number of holistic disciplines including the Chakra System and Polarity Therapy. Fall is a time to get in sync with the wisdom from the Water or Sacral Chakra associated with this season. Located 2 inches below your belly button, the primary organs related to this energy center are the reproductive organs, pancreas; bladder; lower intestines, pelvis, genitals, and lymphatic system.
Water Chakra Qualities
This chakra embodies the energies of pleasure and taste. At this time of year, we harvest the fruits of the year and acknowledge the abundance within our lives with what has been created throughout the seasons. It is an invitation to look at balancing pleasure with temperance as the season changes.
Changing weather and temperatures let us know that it is vital to store energy for the winter coming. In the process, our energy moves from the outward journey into inner reflection. Like the plants, life energy begins its journey into the roots to store energy during this time of increasing hours of darkness.
Taking pleasure is related to both giving and receiving. Nature’s stored life energy in seeds and bulbs are ways to keep the circle of life replenished. In the same way, sharing what you have created with others is beneficial to keeping the energy currents of relationships open.
Honor the light and sound frequencies of the “Sweetness” or “Seat of the Soul Chakra. The light frequency is orange. You see this fall frequency in the trees and plants. and leaves at this harvest time. The orange color you see in pumpkins, squash, sweet potatoes, and melon are wonderful nourishment for both your vision and digestion. Anti-inflammatory herbs like Turmeric with its rich orange color can also become part of your diet in both foods and beverages. Foods that have a salty taste such as miso, seaweed, or umeboshi plum nourish your Water Chakra.
The sound frequency of the Water Chakra vibration is within the mantra, “Vam,” and the Solfeggio Frequency is held at 417 Hz.
Nourishing Your Water Chakra
Foods with high water content are also beneficial sources that connect you to the frequency of this chakra. It is an invitation to look at how you hydrate your body-mind-spirit system. Are you getting enough daily hydration, or depleting electrolytes with overdoing? Here is a Water Intake Calculator, Is your water well-filtered and from a BPA-free container?
Do you give yourself the pleasure of being close to the ocean, waterfalls, lakes, or ponds? Can you relax and soak in water whether that be a foot bath or facial steam, soaking in a tub, or sound bathing with ocean sounds? If not, find a beautiful picture of the water that you love and place it in your environment, on your cell phone or computer as a background during this season.
The frequencies from the mineral world that embody the energetics of this chakra can also be found in Carnelian for expression and creativity and moonstone for opening to the richness of life while clearing blocked lymph glands.
Like water, your life energy flow is important to support and nourish your body, mind, and core essence. Getting a massage to release tension, tightness, and crystallization is a wonderful way to cleanse and release what is keeping you from being in the flow of your life more fully. Choose a massage that feels right for you. Examples include Fascia Release, Swedish, Rolfing, Lymphatic Drainage, Network Chiropractic, or Foot Reflexology as possible choices.
Your Water Chakra and Polarity Therapy
In Polarity Therapy developed by Dr. Randolph Stone, the energy circuit for Water Chakra includes working with your chest, pelvis feet or neck, diaphragm, and perineum. You can focus your movement with an emphasis on freeing your hips, stimulating circulation in your lower body by rising on your toes, and then releasing back to standing on the ground 10 times daily. By doing so you stimulate and nourish your Kidneys for vital energy.
Be sure to include attention to your diaphragm and breathing. Practicing diaphragmatic breathing lowers stress hormones, regulates your heart rate and blood pressure, and allows you to relax more deeply. https://www.healthline.com/health/diaphragmatic-breathing#benefits
For the season of fall, you might consider Resonance Repatterning® and the sessions that work with Polarity Therapy, the Chakra System, Abundance, processing grief, Harmonizing Giving and Receiving in Relationships, Sound Frequencies, Breath, Creative Expression, Life Cycles, and Seasonal Repatterning
This is your personal invitation to harvest greater harmony and balance in your own life through accessing the natural frequencies of color, light, sound, breath, movement, consciousness science, and energetic contacts. With the Resonance Muscle-Checking process, your body reports in on what is most needed to reveal and transform blockages to restore optimal energy flow to create greater integrity in your wellness and well-being.

Reaching Depths for New Possibilities
Reaching depths for new possibilities is a process. One of the definitions of depth is the quality of being profound (as in insight) or full (as of knowledge). Resonance Repatterning® provides a way to work with the body-mind-spirit system to reach insight that brings greater knowledge about how to create greater coherence in your life. By doing so, you have access to the depth of experience from your own life, Family Systems, and energetic information stored in every muscle, tissue, organ, and gland through the Resonance Muscle-Checking system.
The process accesses information stored in your system even at the cellular and sub-atomic or quantum levels to identify what your system needs to transform limiting beliefs, attitudes, and concepts of time to rebuild a stairway to more optimal integrity in your wellness and well-being.
“Look within; within is the fountain of all good. Such a fountain, where springing waters can never fail, so thou dig deeper and deeper.”~Marcus Aurelius
The Depth of the Trauma Body’s Information for Transformation
When you experience trauma whether it be physical, emotional, mental, or injury to your core essence of who you are, your body stores this information in the form of energy. When this energy is not mobilized for release in a healthy way, it is stored as a stress response that keeps you stuck in a frozen state. This state activates defense mechanisms designed for your survival.
When your body-mind-spirit system operates from the survival level, your capacity to experience safety and trust is contaminated with the unresolved need to protect through fight, flight, or immobilization.
Imagine the impact on the way you face life from these survival strategies. It affects what you believe, what you think, and how you react or do not take action in your own life. In fact, the parts of yourself doing this work will protect you from experiencing anything that threatens your survival state.
This means that your system living in chronic stress will not be able to see or experience new opportunities outside of this framework. This can translate into feeling like you have little agency and that the world around you has more authority over you than you have over your own life.
We all experience stress and stressful situations. Chronic stress and negative emotions can point to a deeper state of distress stored in the Autonomic Nervous system. The stairway from the Trauma Body’s habitual response to what it sees, feels, hears, and experiences into a place that feels safe, secure, and trustworthy is accessed only by diving deep into the tissue of the material the parts of you that have been traumatized and held in place, and then given voice and agency with support and nurture.
The beauty of Resonance Repatterning sessions is that every step is guided by what your system needs most for this purpose. Coherent updates are part of every part of the work. This allows your system to become more greatly acquainted with new possibilities and opportunities at a pace that creates greater harmony and balance throughout your system.
The Depth of Blockages to Create Greater Life Energy Flow
You are designed for self-healing. In fact, a session creates greater life energy for positive change by identifying blockages and interruptions of your optimal life energy flow on the physical, emotional, mental, and spirit levels.
The depth of information is accessed and updated through the muscle-checking process through specific natural healing disciplines that work with the channels, meridians, and energy flows of the body. These modalities work with all of your senses including breath, light, color, sound, movement, acupressure, fragrance, energetic contact, consciousness science, frequencies, Family Systems, and holistic science.
Each modality works holographically in that treating one part of your system creates positive change in every part of your life. For example, if you are experiencing a limiting belief or emotion about yourself, and the modality that checks in is an acupressure point, the information from a particular point that treats “fear” might be accessed in a different part of the Chinese Medicine Wheel that works with creating greater nurture or support or balance from the energy of your heart to create greater sense of discernment or connection to joy and unconditional love. Treating the root of the fear, the core need is accessed and treated.
“The outer work can never be small if the inner work is great. And the outer work can never be great if the inner work is small.” ~ Meister Eckhart
This ability to acknowledge the connection between different aspects of core needs often arises in Earlier Experiences or in generational material. Again, through muscle-checking, the root of the pain that keeps you stuck in survival mode can be reached at a time, level, and place within your system through the information stored within the map of your body.
This capacity to reach deeply into the energetics of connection between you and your life’s experience and your family’s systemic influence on the life you are living or not living today is your access through your DNA. Although about 80% of the material is unconscious, it is still available through your Autonomic Nervous System in this process.
This is your personal invitation to check in with yourself to take inventory of what might seem out of reach in regards to what you are not truly living in the way of your values in your communication, your life path, and your positive intentions for your wellness and well-being. If you find yourself feeling like you have lost your compass in the world, it might be time to work with the blockages that interrupted your ability to feel more at ease with yourself and what you are creating with your vital life energy. Has stress muddied the lens through which you see the good within yourself to create optimal life energy or direction you would like to choose? If so, it is time to dive deep into the depths to for new possibilities.

Circling Back to Move Forward
At times it can feel like you are circling back to an earlier part of your life. This can be both beneficial when you wish to gain insight, experience a fond memory, or unveil a new realization. But, in some cases, unconscious unresolved conflict or trauma from the past imposes itself upon the big screen of your life over and over again, it can create the sense that you have little choice or control. The good news is that you are wired for success and self-healing. You can use circling back to move forward as a springboard to spiral up to a new potential for creating new patterns in your life today.
Circling Back to Move Forward is Part of Life Itself
All of the universe operates in circles and spirals. From the microorganisms, plant, animal, and human expressions, life shows up in cycles of renewing, sustaining, and releasing as a way to preserve the evolving components and foundations of existence and build upon them.
This shows up also in adaptations over time that allow life to sustain and thrive in new and varying conditions. The Earth and all living beings need to adapt to these changes perceived in the environment in the short term and over time to survive.
As, humans, we go through daily, monthly and seasonal circles of changes. We are affected by the hours of daylight, temperature, and available natural resources that we take in and are surrounded by. In an ever-changing world, it is valuable to give yourself permission to adapt and change that adaptation when that adaptation is no longer needed. In the fall, we harvest and gather for the coming cold months and put on sweaters and warm coats. However, We take off layers of clothing in the summer and plant new gardens.
Circling Back to Move Forward on the Emotional, Mental, and Physical Levels
In a world where your physical environment changes, it is essential to give yourself permission to also change when to wear a lighter or different coat as you adapt to new environments in your personal life as well.
When your unconscious material carries your past story with limiting beliefs about yourself, relationships, finances, and the world no longer works or fits, you benefit from the realization that the adaptation from the past is no longer useful in your new and current reality.
This applies to your limiting thoughts, attitudes, and feelings from that adaptation recorded within your body-mind-spirit system. When you circle back to access the body’s memory, thoughts, and feelings related to the experience. Hypervigilance over perceived threat responses stored from the past when there is no danger in your present takes you out of inhabiting life fully.
The potential for inhabiting your body by working with the feedback and sensations from your body memory allows you to transform and contain the experiences from the past so you can experience a more relaxed connection to yourself. This can begin to happen by releasing the tension of the immobilized energy that is signaled by unconscious material that creates stressful reactions that put you in fight, flight, freeze, or collapse mode through the Sympathetic Nervous System response.
When you are living from the perspective of unresolved over-adapted trauma response from the past, you respond to the world from a hypervigilant state. This changes your breathing, heartbeat, and your body processes including your vision. You are less able to see details, focus, and discern what is happening right now. You are disconnected from your ability to make conscious choices with your pre-frontal cortex as you are disconnected from reason, decision-making, and critical thinking. Because you are experiencing emotional and survival responses that affect your choices over time through repetitive patterns based on short-term solutions, this continues to control your view of life.
As Peter Levine, Ph.D. demonstrates in the video, by relaxing your muscles with compassionate dialogue and intention, you begin to pair the Parasympathetic Nervous System response to an alternative for your body-mind system over the habitual response. This means that you can then begin to deeply listen to the messages from your body from your Sympathetic Nervous System reactions so you can experience the resolution of the body memory and the narrative that has kept you in over-adapted mode from the past making new adaptations paired with the Parasympathetic Nervous System.
Relaxation of your body impacts your mind. You are better able to breathe in a relaxed and full way. You regain your connection to your whole brain and motor function. This creates greater coherence and resilience in that it is what makes it possible to literally feel like the trauma is contained and over in the present. Some examples of self-care relaxation and breathing practices you might explore over time are available in Yoga and movements like Tai Chi.
Sometimes it is important to question your mind about your current situation. “Is it true?”
For example, when you notice that your shoulders are tight, you can ask what is going on. Do you feel safe right now? How stressed are you? If not, does the situation you are in, or a recent event/conversation bring something up that reminds you of a past experience that was stressful? Are you in danger right now? Or, is your body-mind ramping this up because of a trigger word, sound, or visual? Is this word, sound, or visual dangerous to you right now? Can it hurt you right now? At the same time, you can thank your shoulders for this information, and start to relax them in whatever way feels most needed. Notice any other parts of your body that might be holding stress. Relax them also. By doing so, you are practicing self-care and expanding the ability of your body-mind-spirit system to live in the world today instead of the past and empower your ability to distinguish what is real and true for you now.
“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” – Viktor E. Frankl
By practicing new responses you can create new realizations to spiral up into new possibilities by updating your awareness of the world you live in today. Learning to be more fully engaged in your life today with a new and different set of factors with your own positive changes and actions over time is a powerful tool for self-regulation, self-compassion, and resilience wherever life leads you.
This is your invitation to circle back to move forward with Resonance Repatterning.® Sessions work directly with your Nervous System connected to every tissue, organ, and gland in your body-mind system. Your body is a map of your life’s experiences, and through Resonance muscle-checking can access where your life energy is stuck, frozen, or disrupted. The process works with the limiting thoughts, feelings, and beliefs stored within the material of early experiences that created conflict, trauma, or unresolved immobilized energy in your nervous system. Each session is specific to what you need to support creating greater awareness and coherence personally, in relationships, and in the world. This is the beauty of this multi-discipline and natural multi-modality work.

Showing Compassion to Your Body for Self-Worth
Showing compassion to your body is connected to the quality of your self-worth. The importance of being loved and valued for who you are, what you feel, and how you are seen and heard is connected to your self-worth.
Shame can damage the bridge to compassion for yourself and self-worth. This bridge can be damaged early in life when a parent or authority figure yells, neglects, abuses, or ignores the needs of a child.
Because the need for connection is so strong, shame serves as a survival response when the connection between others and the self is broken. The need to bond with safety and trust needs to be rebuilt by the parent or caretaker. When this doesn’t happen, the child takes the burden of attempting to regain connection, acceptance, and bonding by trying to earn love. This comes from the child not feeling worthy and left feeling that somehow they need to rebuild the bridge to connection.
The outcomes of this need to reconnect can manifest in your body through anxiety, depression, withdrawal, isolation, substance abuse, attempt to be perfect, lying, self-loathing, trying to please others, fit in, self-harm, or expressing itself in PTSD or eating disorders. These attempts to bond or disappear can sometimes hide repressed anger, grief, rage, and sadness for early unmet needs for connection.
Start Where You Are to Rebuild Compassion in Your Body for Self-Worth
Get in touch with the impact of shame and body oppression created by family, culture, authority figures, age, racism, body shape, size, and color of your skin, religion, and language. Identifying the sources of the shame you feel and your survival strategy reactions allows you to begin to process what has been hidden or oppressed. The truth is that not only is your self-worth and image influenced by the outside world, and this becomes your identity, Shame is also internalized in a way that you embody the negative consequences of degradation and oppression with your beliefs, thoughts, self-talk, and actions toward yourself and, in turn, how you see or experience others.
Identify How Your Body is Expressing Your Need for Compassion for Your Self-Worth
Trauma experiences related to body oppression can lead to the survival strategies of submission, separation, silence, or secrecy. It is expressed in how you hold your body, your gestures, posture, tone of voice, breathing, how you take space and support, and facial expressions. It is also expressed in what you wear, the music you listen to, the art, and the rituals in your life.
“Conditions of worth are circumstances when “self-experience is avoided (or sought) solely because it is less (or more) worthy of self-regard.”~Carl Rogers
Notice How You Respond to the Outside World
Your life experiences have molded over time into what you experience today. If you are a people-pleaser avoiding self-care, or giving up your inner values to express a different image in your relationships with choices that neglect your truth, it points to your need to bring compassion to your self-talk, beliefs, and ideas about your true nature. Acknowledging how your body has carried you through life, its strengths, and its wisdom to meet your life and spirit needs is essential for building the bridge to self-compassion in the present based on your true personal worthiness.
Sankofa, a symbol from Ghana, is the idea that it is important Sankofa to reflect on the past to build a successful future. Going back to retrieve the gifts that your body offers you an egg that can rebuild your own body authority in how you perceive your value and needs in life today.
Your body will allow you to become familiar with these parts that have held shame and a sense of unworthiness. When you experience shame, you are more focused on what others expect and want from you rather than considering your own essential needs. Tuning into how you devalue or give value to your self-worth through the eyes of others is an act of reparation. Working with boundaries with the outside world is a good place to begin to foster greater self-care and compassion for your body and self-worth.
Fostering loving messages from within, ideal mentors, a loving friend, or finding the ancestral connection to your need for love and connection through Family Systems Resonance Repatterning sessions can benefit your ability to connect to the compassionate messages you need. Releasing the burden of carrying the life work of others in your system benefits your ability to face life with your own truth and energy to remember and reclaim your true self-worth in the present to create new possibilities.
Responding to Life Today with Compassion for Your Self-Worth
As you give space to the messages you receive from your body, you can become ever more aware of how it can serve you today building a new bridge into greater self-awareness about how it can serve you. It allows you to breathe, digest, rest, process information, move, transport energy, circulate blood, fluids, hormones, neurotransmitters, and also to take action.
The shift to compassion will benefit you in hearing the messages from your own body when you feel overwhelmed, attacked, or feel the sensations of guilt that tug at you. From these signals, you can begin to allow your body to guide you to set boundaries with the outside world when you experience unease or dissonance with the words, actions, or behaviors of others. This allows you to consider what you need in any given moment or situation. In this way, you connect to your body’s strengths of compassion, love, nurture, protection, and true self-worth.
This is your invitation to benefit from a compassionate process that builds your self-worth. Resonance Repatterning sessions work with your body-mind-spirit system to create greater self-worth and compassion by working with the information stored within your body..

The Benefits of Exercise for Your Body-Mind System
The benefits of exercise for your body-mind system are essential for your wellness and well-being. As it gets warmer outside it’s an invitation to look at your exercise routines. This can be a good time to create new options for your body-mind system related to movement, and being more in natural sunlight while incorporating fun and nurture into your daily life.
There are many benefits to exercise. These include the reduction of inflammation and stress, as well as depression. Exercise can also help you focus better and get your creative juices going. This happens with the improvement of blood flow giving oxygen and nutrients to the brain. It also supports new brain cell growth. Research has shown that there is a link between academic performance and physical fitness as it improves the function of the Pre-frontal cortex, the thinking center of the brain. This allows better concentration, planning, organization, and calming effect.
Workouts and pleasurable activities in nature along with laughter and touch also help to create motivating, action-oriented dopamine levels and boosts endorphins, the brain’s natural pain relief and pleasure enhancers. Being in the sun also promotes the creation of Serotonin which allows you to feel more peaceful and free from worry. Examples of activities might include walking, running, outdoor Tai Chi, gardening, tennis, kayaking or canoeing, swimming, etc. Dancing can also bring pleasure, is a wonderful brain exercise, and can give you the benefits of connection with physical fitness.
Planning Time for Your Exercise
A recommendation for healthy body-mind functioning suggests that an average of 20 minutes per day inclusive of a short 5-minute walk before and after a meal is supportive for your heart, circulation, and digestion. In Qigong, the recommendation is to walk at least 100 steps after every meal to activate the digestion of your food.
A ten-minute walk in nature produces feel-good brain chemistry. You can use this time to take a mindful walk to reduce stress to combat stress hormones, especially when you are upset or frustrated as the blood rushes to the head, and your brain function centralizes in your survival brain leaving your thinking and emotional brain not as operational. This is a time to get back into a more relaxed state to bring your entire brain on board to have access to more options for the next steps in your day. It is also important to stay hydrated for this purpose to bring the energy flow of your body back up the brain stem to include your emotional and thinking brain and down into the rest of your body.
Taking Care of Your Body When You Exercise
Being in the sun is important, however, it is also vital to dress for being in the direct sun when you are taking an extended walk or exercising. Wear a hat, sunglasses, and appropriate clothing and shoes. Consider taking sunscreen, Tiger Balm, and bug repellent in your travel bag to make your time outdoors more enjoyable.
If you are taking a long road trip, it is recommended that you stop every two hours to walk and stretch your legs for at least 5 minutes. There is good nutritional information on the internet for how to warm up sustain, and cool down for workouts.
After a workout or long walk, drinking water or coconut water can help hydrate and restore your fluids and electrolyte balance. Munch on foods with magnesium like a handful of almonds or dark chocolate. You can also get the benefits of endorphin enhancer from D-phenylalanine from sunflower seeds. Replace potassium with fruits like bananas or other potassium-rich fruits. Eat candied ginger or drink ginger tea for delayed muscle soreness.
Taking Care of Your Emotions for Exercise
Emotionally, it can sometimes be very difficult to start exercising when you have depleted energy such as in cases of ill health or depression. It’s important to have an aim or direction that inspires you to move toward your growing edge. This means that pleasure, motivation, and momentum all play a role in your successful start.
If your digestion is out of whack or you have had long-term issues with your digestive system, this might be contributing to your state of mind or emotions contributing to your lack of motivation to get started. However, the good news is that any timeframe of movement and exercise will give you beneficial neurotransmitters that will allow you to feel better, while supporting your digestion in a positive way.
Starting by making a daily routine with a natural way to incorporate small movement exercises can create motivation for longer movement routines. This means that to start it’s important to map out the best times and places daily for your movement activities. Choose a few natural activities that fit your schedule and time. Whether it be on your lunch break, 10 minutes in the morning before breakfast for a walk, or after work to wind down before dinner, a safe walk with a coworker or friend or your pet, or a special place you would like to visit to walk, put these on your calendar. You can also incorporate your iPhone with messages or alarms as a reminder, or if you like, put a sticky note in a prominent place like your bathroom mirror to set the day in motion.
Know that stretching is also movement and exercise that you can use to release and calm down when you feel anxious, confused, ungrounded, or have tight muscles from sitting too long. Stretch forward and back, and side to side. You can incorporate music or look out a window at nature to start getting those feel-good neurotransmitters going. The Qigong Bounce and Hold movements are also a great daily activity that you can do in place and only takes a few moments to build your energy when you feel depleted.
Start out slowly if you need. Tune into your body, and notice any biofeedback and sensations you get when you exercise for 5-10 minutes. Increase your time when you are ready. If you are confined to a desk, chair, or bed most of the day, take 5-minute walking or stretching breaks. Take the stairs, ride your bicycle instead of your car, park your car further away from the grocery store, do yard work, wash windows, etc. Find ways to meet your movement and exercise goals as you do different chores. Add your favorite music as you take your break to inspire you. Do a happy dance when you meet your goals. This too is exercise!
Walk down the hall or exercise while your tea is heating on the stove or in the microwave, Look for free videos online that have short and gentle movements that you can complete in 5-10 minutes if needed. Here is an example of a gentle beginning workout for a sedentary life.
As you spring, walk, run, dance, stretch, or move into spring, find ways to increase your exercise for the health of your body-mind system. Enjoy your ability to mindfully see, hear, smell, touch, and taste the freedom of movement you have to experience life. Expand your ability to go forward with optimism like the new growth you see all around you in nature. Be in synch with the new possibilities life has to offer you on the emotional, mental, physical, and spirit (core essence of yourself) levels. Notice what is new and different, and take steps toward pathways of hope and optimism.
