Within the First Steps toward Positive Change

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a first step.” Lao Tzu

Within the first steps toward positive change are the essential building blocks towards realizing your positive intentions. Have you ever felt you needed real sustainable and tangible change in your life?  As we enter the new year, you might be thinking about this as a possibility.

It is likely that when you become aware of the need for change that a number of messages express themselves. Intentions move you to our growing edge, and in the face of new territory, you might also need to take into consideration your doubt, fear, confusion, and sense of disorientation in the process.

While you might consider this kind of thinking can only sabotage positive change, they are important in that they signal unmet needs, beliefs, thoughts, attitudes, or generational imprints from your unconscious that have not yet have been fully integrated or healed in your life. This process allows you to move beyond your first steps in making positive changes in your life.

Because everything is energy and energy is everything, the information from these underlying messages can be accessed at the unconscious level through your body-mind field. Your Nervous System is connected to every organ, muscle, tissue, and gland in your body. It relays this information through frequency or response and can give biofeedback from any place in from your life including prenatal and generational patterns.

The importance of shifting your resonance with habitual patterns, where your life energy is dedicated, is demonstrated in the following analogy.

Sierra Exif JPEG
Imagine that there is a ship with a destination for “Your Positive Intentions”

Imagine a ship with a destination for “Your Positive Intentions.” You start out at your current port and sail with the best of intentions. You are the captain of your ship. You say affirmations, make plans to get to your destination, and place a great deal of conscious effort towards your journey. However, underlying non-coherent beliefs, and negative projections about what might happen including fears, guilt, or worry in the planning take the helm. This disrupts or stops the energy flow dedicated to your positive intentions.

It’s like having a captain at the other end of your ship calling, “Return to port!” As you can imagine, the resulting movement of your ship would then be affected by the energy dedicated to the quality of conscious and coherent life energy available for the journey towards your destination, or the amount of life energy you still have invested in your non-coherent or negative beliefs and habitual patterns.

At this pivotal point, making space and taking time to listen to the messages that are coming up from this awareness will inform your desire to move towards or away from your positive intentions. It is a vital first step towards creating more coherent and positive change. These messages are actually gifts that can potentially create a deeper understanding and connection to your inner wisdom and need for healing. Through this process of taking into account what keeps you stuck, you can open to greater love, compassion, forgiveness, understanding, and peace.

A Resonance Repatterning session accesses your Positive Projections to build the momentum and coherent life energy for what your life would be like while considering your underlying messages and needs.

A Resonance Repatterning session works with this underlying unconscious material that keeps you from moving forward. Sessions create more coherent life energy based on this information so you can move in the direction toward positive change.   When you shift resonance with your core needs being met, your beliefs, attitudes, and perceptions change so that you have the life energy to devote to manifesting your positive intentions for your life.

Resonance Repatterning works with natural modalities of color, light, sound, movement, breath, fragrance, and energetic balancing to enhance resonating with coherent life energy to empower change. This work then further supports you in considering your decisions, right action, realistic responsibility, resources, and right timing.

In doing so, you access inner wisdom and untapped energy in creating new possibilities for moving toward your new port of call….”Your Positive Intentions.”

The Peace that Begins Within

Family Systems is one of the many healing disciplines integrated into Resonance Repatterning®. The purpose of this work is to create greater inner peace in your body-mind-spirit system when you are living with the past loyalties to your groups and systems that conflict with your individuality and author-ship of your life. The peace that begins within starts with working with Self, and how it affects your relationships and view of the world.

SELF

Events in your life, your family’s history, and stressful experiences impact your wellness, well-being, and how you see and experience the world. When you experience conflict within, it is often related to how you experience parts of yourself that carry limiting beliefs, attitudes or concept of time with what you would like to create. About 90% of this material is unconscious based on protection, safety and need for homeostasis. The peace that begins within starts with making this information available to your conscious Self.

New Possibilities: Getting in touch with your thoughts, feelings, and body sensations when you are in a challenging situation is an invitation to witness how you are experiencing life in any given moment. By doing so, you create a bridge to allowing your inner world to inform you in a way that builds connection to the present. It is possible then to shift your awareness to your internal messages and needs that are speaking in response to what is happening in your life.

RELATIONSHIPS

Family Systems

In Family Systems, a group is a system that is bonded by certain beliefs and rules. This could be your family, members of a club or organization, culture, religion, or even a company. These groups have their own beliefs and rules. Some emotions in specific groups can be “good” and allowed, or “bad” and not allowed. Beliefs that allowed in one group, might be taboo or “bad” in another group.

This is where loyalties to belief systems create interference patterns to expanding your capacity to be in some groups while you feel more “at home” in other groups. You take your belief systems from with you wherever you go as you interact with groups with different belief systems everywhere you go.

These patterns of limitation are often unconscious, and the only way to transform these emotions, thoughts, and beliefs is to make them conscious. By doing so, you expand the capacity of your awareness to experience greater choice beyond the rules set within your family system historically at a very deep level.

New Possibilities: Exploring these unconscious limiting patterns can create the opportunity to expand your view while staying curious to your individual needs. While you have been influenced by the infrastructure of your ancestry, you also have the capacity to expand your awareness to experience greater freedom and choice. Once you integrate and update your way of seeing the world, you are then better able to see and experience others from a broader lens of awareness.

For example, let’s say that in your family of origin the emotion of “joy” is not allowed. Perhaps there is a resonance with a sense of grief, working hard or a sense of being victimized that originates from an ancestor or systemic root. Moving beyond systemic limiting rules can create a sense of guilt.

However, by expanding your capacity to show respect and loyalty to your system in a way that allows love as you see each family member as a part of your system, you then expand the ability of your system’s rules to explore this new possibility of joy.

When the family has been brought into its natural order, the individual can leave it behind him while still feeling the strength of his family supporting him. Only when the connection to his family is acknowledged, and the person’s responsibility seen clearly and then distributed, can the individual feel unburdened and go about his personal affairs without anything from the past weighing him down or holding him back.~Bert Hellinger

WORLD

When you have the awareness to choose to expand your limits from a particular group or explore beyond the circle of your group, you take your beliefs with you. Every person thinks differently and perceives the world in their own way. Everyone is born into a specific group related to family, culture, language, habits, and everything connected to them. If the habits and values of another group oppose your beliefs, this can create conflict.

New Possibilities: When you are also able to see others imagining their parents with their beliefs, culture, language, and specific religion, you are better able to understand what makes them the way they are. Each person has their own dislikes or likes and has different needs. There are no “good” or “bad” people, only different ways of seeing the world. Being able to see each person as an individual is a way to open the circle for each person. Once we open the circle within ourselves, we can then connect with others with this foundation.

The BIG CIRCLE

You can only be at peace within when you are reconciled with what you are. This allows you to open up to life to receive everything life offers you. You can take that vital life energy that comes from your parents and ancestors. This creates the opportunity to learn from this material. It allows life energy to flow to you. When accessed with a sense of humility so that you can learn from it instead of pushing it away, this information creates an opportunity for you to expand and grow.

You could not be here without your parents and ancestors. Once you take this information, then you are able to use this to transform your life. This allows you to face life and do something good with that information. Instead of repeating the patterns of limiting beliefs, thoughts, and attitudes out of loyalty to your system, you are better able to give respect and honor to your ancestors in a way that also makes that possible for your Self. That means greater choice and new possibilities.

Fall: Inspiration and Letting Go

As fall takes up residence in our lives in the Northern Hemisphere with cooler weather and leaves falling from trees, it’s important to acknowledge this impact on our personal lives with these changes.

On the Chinese Five Element and Meridian Wheel, Metal Element is the Official for this time of year. In Chinese Medicine, each element and meridian has importance related to physical, emotional, mental, and spirit levels. The Metal Element Official speaks both to inspiration and letting go.

Metal Element on the physical level deals with the Lungs and Large Intestines. The lungs, of course, connect you to the air you breathe and that which inspires you in your life. Each time you exhale, you release and let go. The Large Intestine allows you to let go of what doesn’t nourish your body. On the emotional and mental levels, it also works with the energy of acknowledging your regrets openly and honestly so you can move on in life.  Of course, this can be something
that is needed at any time of year.

Inspiration: Lung Meridian

Lung Meridian is about inspiration. Trees are the lungs of the planet.
. Lung Meridian asks the question, “What inspires you?” What keeps you connected to your spiritual source?” “What do you value?” as well as “What keeps you from realizing you life and spirit purpose?”

Where there have been injuries to self-esteem, confusion, or feeling cut-off from life due to grief, trauma, loss, or depression, Metal Element supports you in experiencing greater self-worth, respect, and a greater sense of value for your life’s experience.

Lung Meridian helps you realize that everything has an innate perfection in your journey through life for your expansion and conscious spiritual evolution. As an example in nature, you see the trees letting go of leaves as the temperatures change and the light diminishes. Yet, what you might not readily perceive is that underneath this seeming death process is the greater purpose of preparation for rebirth. The leaves are actually being pushed off by the new leaf buds forming for the spring!

“Often when you think you’re at the end of something, you’re at the beginning of something else.”
~Fred Rogers

Letting Go: Large Intestine Meridian

Letting go allows your body-mind system to heal grief, trauma, and any residue of earlier experiences.
Large Intestine works with letting go of that which no longer serves your life. So how do you let go of issues that might have placed your emotions on a merry-go-round or stopped you from moving forward in your life?

The Reptilian Brain, the part of your brain whose purpose is to help you survive works by looking for events, features, and images that remind it of earlier events where you might have experienced stress. When you have not processed or moved through experience to create calm or resolution in your body-mind system, it is important to focus on looking at these issues to create new possibilities. What we resist, persists.

Your Parasympathetic and Sympathetic Nervous System will register stress responses that become imprints or triggers for future events, emotions, or responses to situations. When your system is reminded of an unresolved earlier situation, your unconscious responds to in the present as it did in the past with all the stress, emotion, and physical reaction of the unresolved issue.

The benefits of resolution, forgiveness, and moving on include updating your response to situations, better communication between all the systems of your body, new insights, responses, and more choices for your life experience in the present. This can happen through accessing the unconscious material that your nervous system reports through the muscle-checking system in Resonance Repatterning. Your nervous system is connected to every muscle, tissue, organ, and gland. Your body is a map of your life’s experiences.

Working with consciousness science, breath, fragrance, movement, light, sound, and energetic balancing, a Resonance Repatterning® session allows you to let go of the non-coherent patterns to create new coherent pathways for resolution and inspiration. This makes experiencing life anew more than a possibility because your system no longer resonates with the impact or residue of the earlier experience. By letting go of the old, you make way for more inspiration and life energy for your positive intentions. You are making space for a new way of living your life!

Letting Go When Things Fall Apart

Fall is a time where letting go is visible. The trees lose their leaves. The garden shuts down, the temperatures recede as we move into fall.  it looks like that’s all there is. However, we know that spring will come again. In fact, the trees form their buds as they let go of their leaves. In life, when we cannot see beyond our beliefs, attitudes or story we are telling ourselves, it becomes difficult to stay in the process while it is unfolding.

The book, When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron, an American Buddhist nun and teacher, is well worth reading in this time of letting go. In fact, it is in this time where it seems like things are falling apart, that the natural cycles of letting go can create new possibilities so that you can reclaim greater well-being and peace when we let go of the story embedded with non-coherent, attitudes, beliefs and concept of time.

This article summarizes some of the tenets presented in the book with three stories that illustrate and give meaning to them.  What meaning do these stories have for you?

Letting Go of Negative Attitudes

Fear can be a driving force that moves us away from ourselves and others or a doorway that allows us to look at life on the path as a spiritual warrior. One of the questions Pema Chodron’s teacher, Rinpoche asked in a meditation class was, “What do you do when you are squeezed?” When I read this, I reflected on the many times I have moved into a state of fear or immobility. This automatic response led me away from taking care of what was happening to me at the moment. With new awareness, however, being squeezed can serve as a doorway to become aware of an alternative way of being and responding. What would happen if fear could lead me to a greater opening and expansiveness?  Your attitude about the situation is what changes how you experience, feel and respond to it.

When a rainbow appears vividly in the sky, you can see its beautiful colors, yet you could not wear as clothing or put it on as an ornament. It arises through the conjunction of various factors, but there is nothing about it that can be grasped. Likewise, thoughts that arise in the mind have no tangible existence or intrinsic solidity. There is no logical reason why thoughts, which have no substance, should have so much power over you, nor is there any reason why you should become their slave. ~Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

Story #1: Is It Good or Is It Bad?

The option to relax and focus on your breathing allows you to get in touch with your inner world. Your “thinking” is reacting to the situation.  By being more in touch with your breath, this can stabilize and support you at the moment relieving your stress response, moving you into the place where your body-mind wisdom can support you.  While doing so, you can start the process of having compassion for your thoughts so that they find new possibilities with inner care to transform or change who you are in the moment, and what you do in response.

Letting Go of a Concept of Time

Story #2: Nightmares

We live in a world of polarities. The invitation is to find neutral ground within this mixture. As human beings, we experience the world through the lens of positive and negative instead of resting in the center to allow the digestion and transformation of what we are experiencing in any given moment. Because we live in a “fix it” world, it is challenging to allow all of our emotions to be there without labeling, grabbing or something to change or numb them.

From the Buddhist perspective, this is demonstrated within the 8 Dharmas. There are 4 dharmas that represent “what we want or desire” and 4 dharmas that represent their opposites, what we do not want to have or experience.
These include Pleasure or Pain; Praise or Criticism and Blame; Fame or Disgrace; Gain or Lose.

The question is do you resonate with the problem or the new possibility?  Do you resonate with the process as one that creates growth within whatever your life presents to you? Attachment to desire can create pain when there is a grabbing or clinging to the need for permanence.  The expectation to experience happiness and fulfillment continuously can lead to great disappointment.  When there is an injury, loss or sense of failure, disappointment can be amplified with a sense of never having resolution or completion.

However, when we look at the natural world, we can see that impermanence abounds.  Seasons change, we breathe in and then let go of our breath. Babies are born and change over time into adults. People and pets die. Relationships begin and end.  Things fall apart. It is staying with the process instead of running away that peace has the opportunity to arrive. Numbing it out, trying to distract from the process, only prolongs the pain.

By resisting the very nature of things not staying the same, we take ourselves out of experiencing who we are right now. This limits our ability to experience or to allow the process of any emotion, situation, or event from being what it is so that it can give us the experience.  It can expand, dissolve, fall apart until a sense of meaning arises. It is from this place that you can experience a sense of timelessness, insight, choice, and letting go.

Letting Go of Negative Beliefs

Story #3: Warrior and Fear

The most difficult times for most of us, is the time we give ourselves. ~Pema Chodron

The Buddhist tenet of “Do no harm” is a practice that begins with applying this to your Self. Who you are is related to what you practice. As an example, if you are practicing anger in the moment, this is who you are in the moment. That anger can create a number of physical, emotional and mental responses that you can run from the experience right now. It has information for you that in the middle way that can reveal an awareness that opens you to a gift of something you did not know or expect. It is by taking the labels off your current emotion, relaxing and opening to being with it, that leads you to harmonize your response to life more intimately. In this way, as you compassionately spend time with your beliefs, attitudes, and thoughts, you bring less judgment and blame as you empower your awareness, actions, and choice.

“And I found that I can do it if I choose to – I can stay awake and let the sorrows of the world tear me apart and then allow the joys to put me back together different from before but whole once again.”
Oriah Mountain Dreamer

In doing so, your practice leads you to practice how you respond within, and how you interact with life. By practicing mindfulness, “Do no harm” leads to a greater sense of well-being and peace. Because it is then in your memory bank, you are better able to allow this space and freedom within yourself. As you do so, you can also begin to offer this compassion to others.

Resonance Repatterning® sessions work with where you are stuck, where you feel things are falling apart. In working with your beliefs, attitudes, and concept of time-related to your problems and intentions for your life, you can experience a greater sense of peace and harmony.  You are designed for success and self-healing. This process works with your inner software to create tangible and sustainable positive change.

Earth Element: It’s About Nurture and Support

At this time of year Earth Element from the Chinese Five Element and Meridian System emerges as a time of harvesting the nurture and support of the Earth with berries, fruit, and vegetables. In order to get to this harvest, these plants needed nurture and support. They needed sunlight, rain, watering, fertilizer, pollinators, stakes (support), and protection.

As a human being, you need nurture and support. For this reason, this element focuses on your Stomach and Spleen. How you receive nurture through whole foods, clean water, self-care, exercise, being in nature and the sunlight makes a positive difference in how you experience support in your life.

As an analogy, consider the sunflower. This heliotrope turns its flower-head atop its tall stalk towards the sun as it crosses the sky each day. It is oriented to taking nurture and support. The same concept for resonating with orienting with what allows you to take what is beneficial for you with nurture and support holds true. Once you resonate with this implicitly, you build greater integrity in your wellness and well-being.

Nurture and Support for Self

Stomach: First things first, it is important to nurture your body-mind system. When you eat food it is vital to feed the hunger of your organs. When you eat food to nurture and drink water for hydration and energy flow, you are taking care of more than just your physical body. This nurture creates a greater ability to start projects, sustain your attention, respond to life with a sense of center. The term, “HANGRY” points to the reactive response that comes when you are extremely hungry, are eating foods of little nutritional value, or have not nourished yourself for a significant period of time.

Becoming irritable, tired, and unfocused is a result of not getting enough nourishment or hydration. Taking nourishment for your wellness and well-being allows you to feel more at home within your body. When you nourish your body, you also need to digest what you have eaten. Taking a short walk after eating enhances this process as you have Stomach and Spleen acupressure points on the bottom of your feet.

Take a walk of 100 steps after a meal to stimulate digestion.

Digesting food and ideas can be similar. This is why it is important to give yourself the time to create the energy flow to access the wisdom from your body-mind system. Know that in the same way, you can only eat one bite at a time, digesting new information or resolving issues in your life need time to register, digest,  to create new insight or resolution.

When you embody and create sustenance within your own body, your home, this creates the potential for interacting with others in a reciprocal way. To the degree that you are connected to your own body equals your ability to see and experience the whole of another person. This means that being able to care, access inner observation, and wisdom from within. At the same time, you become better able to listen and experience your interaction with other people.

Spleen: On the physical level, spleen serves many purposes that support your body.  It recycles red blood cells, filters blood, stores white blood cells and platelets, and fights bacteria that can cause pneumonia and meningitis. On the emotional and mental levels, you can see how Spleen Official is associated with your ability to support or hold yourself up during a process, project, or situation over time. When you feel that you are a victim of circumstances, can’t take a step forward, or feel disoriented in your own body, this could be a signal from an unresolved earlier experience where you experienced shock, pain, or an empty feeling.  If there was no support for you moving through that experience you might still be responding to that memory imprint. Spleen points to your need to evaluate internal and external resources for support. This could mean talking to someone, delegating, getting more rest, or breaking up a project into parts. It might also mean that you are not yet resonating with taking support for your life, not asking for help, and essentially toughing it out.

It is important to look at how you move through life daily while creating inner support and nurture for your time, energy, and well-being. Taking the message is essential while balancing how much you give to a situation, relationship, or project is directly related to the quality and quantity of life energy you have in your physical and emotional bank account at the time.

Offering Nurture and Support to Others

Family Systems is one of the interdisciplinary healing disciplines in Resonance Repatterning®. This work speaks to the  need for balance in the process of giving and receiving in relationship.*

With empathy, I’m fully with them, and not full of them – that’s sympathy.~ Marshall Rosenberg

From the perspective of Family Systems, offering help to another person (adult) has some guidelines to enhance this balance while respecting, nourishing, and benefiting another person in the process. The process of giving and receiving in a balanced way is important to healthy relationships.

  1. Give only what you have and take only what you need.
  2. Accept circumstances as they are and intervene only when it is possible.
  3. Consider others as adults or peers. Relate to them as equals. Avoid putting yourself in the position of being their “parent.”
  4. When you interact with others, know that they have their own parents, family, and ancestors. This has influenced them, and also is a link to their vital life energy which is their birthright.

The degree to which I can create relationships, which facilitate the growth of others as separate persons, is a measure of the growth I have achieved in myself.~ Carl R. Rogers

With that said, being present with others by focusing your attention, facing them, listening, and affirming what you hear them say are powerful ways to help. By doing so, you are creating the capacity for the other person to experience themselves more deeply. This allows the other person to call upon their inner capacity of support and nurture without taking away their sovereignty.

When you resonate with being more at home within your own body, this creates the potential for feeling at home in new situations and places, and on the planet. This is because you take your home with you, and experiencing others with their own sovereignty allows you to feel more at peace within. Earth Element has a lot to give and teach us about nurture and support.
